I had some heavy emotions arise yesterday ⁣ ⁣

I had some heavy emotions arise yesterday ⁣
⁣
During an EMDR therapy session a memory came to the surface of a time my body went into a trauma response ⁣
⁣
My boundaries were crossed⁣
My body violated⁣
And I was to weak to speak up and so no ⁣
⁣
So I dissociated⁣
Went blank behind the eyes⁣
And left my body ⁣
⁣
This was my bodies way of protecting me because the emotions were to overwhelming to process ⁣
⁣
Grief, shame, disgust and anger surfaced ⁣
⁣
Anger was what felt most alive after the session ⁣
⁣
And I knew I had to move the energy through my body⁣
⁣
And this is how I did it⁣
⁣
It was raw ⁣
It was primal⁣
It was fierce ⁣
It was powerful ⁣
And it felt so good ⁣
⁣
Anger is not a bad emotion⁣
⁣
When it arises we need to feel it, move through it and process it in a way that feels safe for our body and safe for our nervous system ⁣
⁣
Expressing anger through dance is not only healthy, it’s empowering AF⁣
